To: Grand Knights, Council Program Directors, and Council Community Directors:
The 2021-2022 fraternal year is underway. I hope you are off to a fast start. This bulletin highlights some items that need your attention early in the year.
- 1. All Council Community Directors must meet the requirements of the Safe Environment program. Please pay attention to this. Council community directors that do not meet the requirements on time will be removed from the post by Supreme. If you have any questions about this, please contact State Advocate Paul Zock at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
- 2. All Faith in Action community programs now have a page on the state website: www.gakofc.org. Just click on the program tab and then the community tab. On these web pages, you will find useful information including your state program chair who is ready to assist you with the program.
- 3. You should already be planning for your Coats for Kids program. This year, coats can be ordered from www.knightsgear.com. The coats must be paid for with a credit card when ordered. Please work this out with your Financial Secretary and your coats for kids chair in advance to avoid surprises. Plan your fundraising and plan your coat distribution. Chairman John Steffl is ready to assist – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
- 4. Another program that you should consider is the Catholic Citizens Essay Contest. Click here to see the schedule. Follow the link to the supreme website for guide sheets, entry forms, and certificates. This is a great way to engage the kids of your parish. Who knows, maybe their Dad will become a Knight. Get in touch with chair Dick Hayden at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., for any help you need to get this program started.
- 5. Habitat for Humanity is another program that deserves your council’s attention. This featured program needs your donation of money but more importantly, needs labor. How satisfying to actually use your hands, your back, and your sweat to help folks in need of a home. There are Habitat Organizations all over the state. Want to talk about how to find one and get a program started? Get in touch with chair Art Hargrove at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Ask your members – you may find that some of them are already volunteering at Habitat.
- 6. As our neighbors continue to struggle with the impact of COVID, our Helping Hands programs and our Leave No Neighbor Behind programs remain critically important. The state web pages, with links to the supreme resources, will answer many of your questions and give you some good ideas. Helping Hands chair Greg Bohling, This email address is being protected from spambots. - 7. We are asking you to make a special effort this year to report your programs with Fraternal Programs form 10784. Supreme has made it very easy to use. Any Knight can now complete the form.
