Clifford State Deputy Georgia State Council Knights of Columbus Worthy State Deputy and dear Brother Clifford:In my own name, and on behalf of my fellow Supreme Officers and Board of Directors, I extend greetings to you and all my brother Knights of the Georgia State Council.Today marks the 140th Anniversary of Blessed Michael McGivney founding the Knights of Columbus. As we begin this 141st year, each brother Knight should reflect with pride on our Orders continued success in advancing the charitable and evangelical mission of the Church, particularly during recent moments of hardship.The efforts of our brothers in Poland and Ukraine provide an example for all Knights of Columbus.Inadversity,thesemenhaverisentothechallenge;fulfillingFather McGivneys vision of caring for the needy and the outcast. In the other jurisdictions of our Order, the Founders call to action is no less evident. In the United States, Canada, Mexico,andthePhilippines,humanlifeisunderconstantthreat.AsthePro-Life movement shifts in focus from the national to local level, I ask councils to redouble their efforts in support of pregnancy resources centers.The recently concluded Year of St. Joseph, proclaimed by Pope Francis, brought with it many graces. Included among these is the new Pilgrim Icon Program in honor of St. Joseph. In the months ahead, brother Knights and their parishes will grow in devotion to St. Joseph through this program, allowing them to reflect upon the model of masculine virtue St. Joseph providesan example so important to our Order today.Finally, I express sincere gratitude to you, your fellow state officers, district deputies, council officers, general and field agents, and to each brother Knight in Georgia.MayOurLadyofGuadalupeguideyourdeliberations,andmayBlessedMichael McGivney, pray for us.
