b'Knights of Columbus Georgia State CouncilResolution GA21-18 Whereas: Robert Eugene Canfield of Roanoke, Virginia, passed onto his Heavenly reward on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the age of 83, andWhereas, Robert Bob Canfield was the father of eight children, grandfather of 25, and great-grandfather of nine, he and his beloved wife, Virginia, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008 before Virginias passing in 2009, andWhereas, Bob was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church for54 years a parish council member. As a fourth-degree member, Youth Director, and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 562, Bon initiated many community programs for the Roanoke Valley, including the K of C Sandlot Basketball Tournament that he ran for over 40 years, and was an outgrowth of the basketball clinic he started at Roanoke Catholic School. He established the South City Knights Youth Basketball Program and coached youth baseball and basketball teams for many years. He directed The Carousel, a major fundraiser for Roanoke Catholic Schools from 1970 to 1984, andWhereas, Bob retired from the FBI in 1994 serving a 32-year career where he largely served regional southwest Virginia, andWhereas, Bob and Virginia founded and ran the small business, Christ is Christmas, with his daughter, Mary. His lifes passion for the past 30 years, this company created evangelical greeting cards emphasizing the true meaning of Christmas to raise funds for charitable needs.The Christ is Christmas program became and instrumental piece of the order wide Knights of Columbus, Keep Christ in Christmas, program, andWhereas, Bob will be missed but his legacy will continue through his daughter Mary, therefore let it be Resolved, The Knights of Columbus of Georgia will continue to pray for Bob and Virginia through the use of their religious Christmas cards, andBe it Further Resolved,That the Knights of Columbus of Georgia send prayers, condolences and continued well wishes to his children and their spouses, Bobby and Glenda Canfield, Maureen and Tim Rowe, Patricia and John Gazewood, Mary and Royce Day, Virginia and Jim Buch, Carolyn and William McDonald, Michael and Kerry Canfield, and Raymond and Rosy Canfield; 25 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
