Parkes was ordained a Priest of the Diocese of Orlando on May 23, 1998, and WHEREAS, Reverend Parkes served in several assignments in the Diocese of Orlando including leading the campus ministry at the University of Central Florida, the second-largest university in the United States, and WHEREAS, He was appointed Dean of the North Central Deanery of the Diocese of Orlando, and WHEREAS, He has earned Degrees in Business Administration, from the University of South Florida and a M.A in Theology/M.Div., from St. Vincent de Paul Seminary, Boynton Beach, and WHEREAS, Most Reverend Stephen D. Parkes was appointed the fifteenth Bishop of the Diocese of Savannah by His Holiness Pope Francis on July 8, 2020.He was consecrated and installed on September 23, 2020 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, Savannah by Archbishop Gregory John Hartmeyer, and WHEREAS, with his brother Gregory, Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, became the 11 thpair of brother-Bishops in the history of the Catholic Church in the United States, therefore let it be RESOLVED, That the Georgia State Council and all Knights of Columbus across the State, congratulate Bishop Stephen D. Parkes on his consecration and installation as the Bishop of Savannah and pledge our support for his leadership throughout the Diocese.
