b'NEWS FROM AROUND THE STATE, continuedAssembly 2475 Night at theSummer Safety, Co. 13440Gwinnett StripersFor the last three years the St. Oliver Plunkett Council 13440, in Snellville has Mike Basask with his boss Sylvia Basak been sponsoring a Safe and Healthy Summer event for children ages 7 to 14 and their parents. The purpose of the event is to enlighten the participants on the hazards and issues they may encounter during their summer vacation.The event included of a series of presentations and demonstrations by a Medi-cal Professional, and Fire and Police Department personnel discussing various health issues such as exposure to sun, staying clean, and hydrated. Also dis-cussed was not playing with matches, fireworks, traffic laws and not speaking to stranger plus other general safety tips. Various safety and health material were provided to the parents.The children and parents were able to interact with the presenter through a question and answer session.A free pancake breakfast was served to the children and their parents as well as the presenters. Goodie bags with water bottles and other small items were given to the children. The Council conducted a drawing at the end of the event, and two Bob Langstine youth bikes were awarded to the winners.State Special Olympics The Council looks forward to continuing this program each year.State Special Olympics Chairman DD 15 John Cianfaglione addresses the crowd at the Special Olympics Georgia GamesA Knightly Knight Council 3607 Seminarian Dinner with AB HartmayerCouncil 3607 hosted, for the 21st consecutive year, a dinner in support of our diocesan Seminarians. Saint Teresas has been very supportive over the years making sure that each man studying for the Priesthood has received $500 for their personal needs as well as supporting many women preparing to enter the convent.The council has raised over $100,000 for vocations.Grand Knight of Council 7601 Larrie Garcia111'
