b'Knights of Columbus Georgia State CouncilResolution GA20-16WHEREAS: The year 2020 marks the 75 thanniversary of the end of World War II, andWHEREAS:Countless Knights of Columbus served in that war as Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen,Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Merchant Marines, and WHEREAS:Many of these men suffered wounds, injuries, and illnesses, and some madethe ultimate sacrifice far from their homes and families, andWHEREAS:Among those who returned were stalwart Catholic Americans who built families,careers, and churches throughout the state of Georgia and nationwide, and WHEREAS:In the ensuing years since the end of World War II, they continued to serve theirfellow man in the establishment of over 100 new Knights of Columbus councilsin Georgia that are still in existence today, andWHEREAS:So few of them remain with us today, but the Georgia State Council is still in awe of the example of their service and sacrifice, be it RESOLVED: That the Georgia State Council of the Knights of Columbus are forever gratefulfor the service, sacrifice, and love of country of its members, whether deceased or still with us, who served during World War II, and we are specially indebted tothose who suffered wounds, injuries, and illnesses, both physical and emotional,and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow man during thathorrible conflict, and be itFURTHER RESOLVED: That the Georgia State Council honors the sacrifice of the families ofthose members, who have suffered the anguish of the war, some to this day, and we pray that the Holy Spirit may grant them comfort in this world and forever in the presence of the Almighty Lord.This resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote of the Georgia State Council Executive Committee at its virtual meeting on April 4, 2020.Respectfully submitted:Attested Mark W.
