b'2020 KNIGHT OF THE YEAR: Gary MajorST.JOHNVIANNEY COUNCIL 12580, LITHIA SPRINGS, GAFaith Gary is an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church serving as a Special Minister of the Eucharist, a Rosary Leader, and as an Usher. He implemented the Rosary Program for our Parish finding volunteers to lead the rosary before each Weekend Service. Gary has also coordinated the Councils par-ticipation the last two years in the Marian Program. Community Gary has recently retired as an Army Colonel with 37 years of service to our nation. He volunteers with Habitat for Humanity along with his wife who volunteers as a safety officer. This year under the Coats for Kids Program, our Council pur-chased and distributed 816 coats to area schools. Gary partic-ipates in the annual Operation Christmas which distributed toys to over 10,000 needy families at Christmas. Gary and his wife are members of the Councils St. Francis Table team which prepares a Soup lunch for the Atlanta Homeless. He also assists with pro-viding hot meals to the Douglas County Homeless Shelter. In ad-dition to his involvement in the Parish, Gary is an active volunteer with the American Legion and American Legion Riders. Family Gary has been married to Phyllis for 32 years and they have two sons. Serving their Parish and Community is a focal point of their lives. Gary initiated and coordinated the Gary Major, as our Knight of the Year and presents him to theCouncils Consecration to the Holy Family Program and Keep State Council as our Candidate for the Georgia State Knight ofChrist in Christmas Programs. the Year.Life Gary has a special passion for the Special Olympics as Council Brother Gary, 64, an insurance member, has been ahisoldestsonhasspecialneeds.Garyactivelyparticipates Knight for over 21 years. Gary has been Lecturer, Warden, Deputyin fund raisers and in supporting the Douglas County Special Grand Knight, and currently serves on his second year as GrandOlympics annual Bocce Ball and Soft Ball tournament. Through Knight. During his tenure as Grand Knight, the council receivedour Council and with Knights on Bikes he is also heavily involved the honors of Star Council. Gary is also the Chairman of the Golfin Pregnancy Center Support Programs supporting the Paulding Committee for our annual fundraising golf tournament. Gary isof our Council, our Community and the St. John Vianney Parish. also an active member of the Georgia Knights on Bikes.We are proud to have him as our Knight of the Year.2018-2019 Ladies Auxiliary of the Year 2019-2020 Ladies Auxiliary of the YearFATHER JOHN KENNEDY COUNCIL 4913,VALDOSTA, GA St. Michael the Archangel Council #11768 nominated their auxiliary this year; The Auxiliary works tirelessly alongside the council, offering invaluable support in our mission to serve not only the widows and children of our parish but many of Gods children who need love and help throughout our community and at large. The council and Auxiliary worked very well together on nu-merous projects while also conducting many substan-tial projects on their own. From a Clergy Appreciation Dinner, to Breakfast with Santa, to the pastors 25th anniversary celebration to a Mardi Gras party and fish dinners, the ladies of the auxiliary worked side by side with the council providing decorating, cooking, serving, and cleanup support. Stepping out on their own they coordinated and hosted many events in support of the parish and community, from an authentic polish silver anniversary celebration for one of their associate priests born in Poland, weekly cleaning of the church, Christ-mas decorating of the church, rosary making, prayer blankets for those in need of spiritual and physical heal-ing, toiletry kits for the homeless, Christmas cards for President Joan Berkel (seated) Jerry Kozuch, Caroline Martin, Sharon White and Veraveterans, work days at Seeds Thrift Shop, to 40 Days LaMarca (Standing L-R) of Council 4913 presented with Auxilary of the Year Award atFor Life prayer vigils.Photos to come next yearthe 2019 State Convention 67'
