b'Things we missed this year but will enjoy in 2021When I started writing this, I was thinking that I am such a coward hunkered down in my office.I am used to responding after an emergency. So yes, I was feeling like a coward, then I remembered that although this pandemic it is not a storm it is similar to a tornado or hurricane in the initial take cover and protect yourself until the worst is over and then seek those that need help. So, as we come out of our shelters (in place) let us thank the people who really stood out in harms way. Everyone frequently thanks the Doctors and Nurses but let us remember the people who feed the patients, the people who clean the patients rooms, the people who dis-pose of the waste from the infected patient room. They continued to work and though they receive no credit they are in harms way as much as many Doctors and Nurses. Firemen, Paramedics, and Policemen are frequently thanked with good reason, yet they were aware of the hazards and frequently train for them. We should thank the people who did not sign up for hazardous duty, those who had to learn about Per-sonal Protective Equipment after they may have already been exposed. I speak of our grocery store workers, our pharmacy workers, and those who have continued to work in adverse conditions with ad-hoc safety equipment. These people are real heroes continuing to do their jobs when they could easily hunker down and hide without fault. These hard working every day folk are my heroes. I am going to take a pandemic hero or two to some of the events listed here: Parish Lenten Fish DinnersParish Pancake BreakfastsGood Friday Promotion ProgramConsecration to the Holy Family (we do this at Christmas and Lent)P.A.T.H.
