The church restoration followed a year and a half of reconstruction after being hit by lightening on August 15th, 2017. The subsequent fire and damage necessitated a transfer of all parish liturgical activities to the recently opened Parish Hall. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Pro-gram Chair and current Deputy Grand Knight Rick Morel,Former District Deputy and current membership chair Frank Moran, Grand Knight Gary Major and no less than 43 of the Knights from Council 12580,their work this year in Coats for Kids amassed 260 volunteer hours, and a supply of816 much-needed coats, (34 cases worth!),distributing them to 11 elementary schools, four local charities, and the local St. Vincent dePaul Society at St. John Vianney Parish.The project began in earnest in the month of August and continued through and past September.The Council utilized fund-raising events and member donations of over $ 11,500.00!The Council will try next year to even increase the number of recipients from their 2019 record successes and challenges each Council in the GeorgiaJurisdiction who has yet to participate, to get involved in this most worthwhile project and experience the warmest of Smiles on the faces of those boys and girls who might not have otherwisebenefitted from this program.87'
